Karachi: The residents of FB Area, Block 14, Naseerabad have been left in distress as the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has failed to restore gas supply for more than 15 consecutive days. The prolonged outage has paralyzed daily life, forcing families to purchase meals from hotels and restaurants, while children are unable to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner cooked at home.
Residents say they have repeatedly lodged complaints on SSGC’s helpline 1199, but the company’s response has been nothing more than hollow promises. “Every time we call, they assure us the issue will be resolved within 24 to 48 hours, but 15 days have passed and nothing has changed,” one resident lamented.
Shockingly, when residents checked the status of their earlier complaints, they were told the system had marked their issue as “resolved” the very next day — despite the fact that gas supply was never restored. This revelation has fueled anger and highlighted what residents describe as “the worst example of SSGC’s mismanagement and negligence.”
The affected community has now appealed directly to Minister of Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, urging him to take strict notice of SSGC’s failure. They demanded immediate restoration of gas supply and departmental action against responsible officials, including staff at the Ayesha Manzil Customer Centre and the technical team.
“SSGC employees draw salaries but fail to perform their duties honestly. We request the Minister to hold them accountable so that citizens are not left to suffer in silence,” the residents said in their joint appeal.
The crisis underscores growing frustration with SSGC’s customer service and operational inefficiency, raising serious questions about accountability in Pakistan’s energy sector.
