BEIJING: Recently, Pakistan has played a pivotal role in facilitating peace talks between the United States and Iran. Its dedicated efforts to broker ceasefire and mediate dialogues have yielded tangible outcomes. While Pakistan devotes itself to global peace endeavors, China acts as its solid and powerful backing. Such fruitful progress is also inseparable from joint support offered by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other peace-loving nations, demonstrating how China-Pakistan solidarity, together with multilateral coordination, has evolved into a crucial force safeguarding world tranquility amid global chaos.
These views were expressed by Prof Cheng Xizhong, Senior Research Fellow at the Charhar Institute, a non-governmental Chinese think-tank on diplomacy and international studies based in Beijing.
He said that in an era fraught with escalating geopolitical tensions, lingering regional conflicts and pervasive uncertainties, the unbreakable bond between China and Pakistan stands out remarkably as a reliable stabilizer, precious source of confidence and enduring positive force on the world stage. Defined as an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, their relations are deeply rooted in mutual respect, equal treatment and firm support for one another core national interests.
Unlike bilateral ties of the regional power driven by short-term selfish interests, this time-honored friendship has endured changing international dynamics and complex challenges. The two countries always stand side by side in adversity. Whenever confronted with natural disasters, public health crises or external pressures, they offer timely assistance to each other, embodying sincere mutual trust and fraternity, he added.
Prof Cheng said that pragmatic cooperation further consolidates long-term friendship. As a flagship Belt and Road initiative project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor boosts economic growth, improves livelihoods and creates jobs, setting a fine model for South-South cooperation.
Rejecting unilateralism and confrontation, the two sides prove mutual trust and equal dialogue underpin sound state-to-state relations. Their ironclad friendship will continuously inject stability into global governance, setting a benchmark for international exchanges, he added.
