RAWALPINDI: Traders and residents in Rawalpindi have expressed optimism over Islamabad hosting peace talks between representatives of Iran and the United States, terming Pakistan\u2019s role as a mediator a positive step towards regional stability, revival of economic activity, and enhancement of the country\u2019s global standing. Since the respective delegates has gathered in ‘Islamabad Talks’, people termed Pakistan as the ‘venue of peace’.<\/p>\n
Talking to APP here Saturday, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Usman Shaukat welcomed Pakistan\u2019s role in arranging the talks, saying the initiative has created an opportunity to address the global recession triggered by war conditions. He said the ‘Islamabad Accord’ would contribute to global peace and help re-energize economic momentum, adding that the development has elevated Pakistan\u2019s status as an important country on the world stage.<\/p>\n
He extended heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for their decisive and visionary leadership in facilitating a historic two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.<\/p>\n
“At a time when regional tensions had escalated dangerously and the situation was on the brink of a wider conflict, Pakistan\u2019s timely diplomatic intervention played a pivotal role in de-escalation,\u201d he said terming the achievement as reflection of Pakistan\u2019s growing stature as a responsible and influential global actor. \u201cWe remain hopeful for the success of the ‘Islamabad Accord’ and future negotiations aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Usman went on to say that Pakistan\u2019s role as a bridge between nations underscores its long-standing commitment to peace, diplomacy, and regional stability. \u201cThe leadership demonstrated during this critical period highlights Pakistan\u2019s capacity to foster dialogue and contribute meaningfully to global peace efforts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Ikram Sheikh, a business community rep said bringing both sides to the negotiating table was a positive step and expressed hope for a successful outcome. “Islamabad is the next venue of world peace”, he said.<\/p>\n
Zaheer ud Din highlighted that regional stability would help restore investor confidence and improve trade prospects.<\/p>\n
Rizwan Ahmad termed the initiative encouraging for future economic cooperation and said it could open new avenues for business growth.<\/p>\n
Residents also welcomed the development. Amir Saeed described the talks as a timely move towards peace, while Tahir Kamal said Pakistan\u2019s mediatory role reflected its commitment to stability and dialogue. Asif Malik on the occasion said such efforts would enhance the country\u2019s global image and promote lasting peace in the region.<\/p>\n
Shopkeepers, youth and students also appreciated the important development in the region saying Pakistan has timely and concretely rendered diplomatic efforts and gathered the warring parties in Islamabad.
